New Music of the Week (March 10, 2014)

It is time for New Music Tuesday again!

This week I found four phenomenal bands with albums I guarantee I’ll be listening to quite a bit.

First up is a new supergroup, KXM, formed by Korn drummer Ray Luzier, King’s X frontman and bass player dUg Pinnick, and Lynch Mob and Dokken guitarist George Lynch.  The album is a self-titled release featuring 13 awesome hard rock songs.

The Shrine are a unique sounding band that combines classic punk, stoner rock, mixed with some sludge metal and southern rock thrown in for good measure.  Their new album, Bless Off, is a wonderful earful of eclectic sounds.

Next up is another supergroup called Conquering Dystopia.  It is made up of Nevermore guitarist Jeff Loomis, axe man extraordinaire  Keith MerrowCannibal Corpse bassist Alex Webster and The Faceless drummer Alex Rudinger,  No vocals were used on this album.  It is a pure onslaught of instrumental heavy metal, from the first song to the last!  I’m not familiar with Cannibal Corpse or The Faceless, but will be digging into their back catalog for sure.

Last but not least is veteran reggae rockers 311.  Their newest release is entitled Stereolithic and I have to say it is pretty darn good.  I hate to admit it, but I never really listened to them back in the day, but I love their vibe!
